Skills Development
With its motto of ‘a hand up – not a hand out’, Learn to Earn develops the unemployed through skills training and job creation. The Foschini Group’s investment has gone towards training development and job creation opportunities for 20 unemployed people. As one individual supports on average seven additional family members, our contribution has benefited 140 people.
WHEAT Trust is a national women’s fund committed to grassroots women’s empowerment for community development through skills training. WHEAT awards grants to individual women and women led community-based organisations to ensure active participation of women in the development of their respective communities. Our investment of R100 000 will fund 20 initiatives. The funds will concentrate on:
- HIV/AIDS - Home Based Care, Counselling, community gardens, soup kitchens that service those that are infected or affected by HIV/AIDS
- Skills Development – substance abuses, domestic violence and income generation
in Kwazulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape and other rural areas which do not have access to these kinds of resources with the use of the WHEAT Trust’s highly qualified fieldworkers.
